Expression. Experience. Excellence ... these principles are the driving force behind AZOOMA, the Arizona Opera Orchestra Musicians Association. Formed in the year 2000 to support its members, AZOOMA is a diverse organization of highly-trained music professionals from the Arizona Opera Orchestra. Our members reside mainly in one of three major cities in Arizona: Flagstaff, Phoenix or Tucson. We aim to deepen our commitment to our local communities. As one of the few large performance ensembles active in Arizona, we desire to strengthen these bonds on multiple levels - artistic, cultural and personal.

The organization was founded as the Grand Canyon Men’s Chorale in 1991 in Maricopa County, Arizona. Initially known as a recital choir with members standing and singing for their audiences, a new direction was taken to turn the group into the Valley’s first and largest “show” choir, with performances including dancing and characterizations, costuming and sets, and a story or theme for each show. We have partnered with many major performing arts groups in the Valley, including the Phoenix Children’s Choir, Arizona Women in Tune, Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, Desert Valley Squares, and other similar organizations.
